Let’s just start by saying that getting me to write this bio was a hard task. Haha! But given that social media is the wave of the future, I finally surrendered. So here ya go…
I’ve been in the business for over 20 years. Wow, where did that time go? I’ve always been a “beauty and fashion” type of chick. I grew up working in hair salons, and then went into modeling for a while. That’s when it became crystal clear to me that I was not a “model type” of girl. I realized that I wanted to be on the other side of that world and that I was a natural right from the start.
On that note, I believe a great hair stylist is born with the gift. You either have it or you don’t. So I can tell you—yes I graduated from Graham Webb Academy, acquired additional continuing education on every level for years following, that I’ve been blessed to have won awards for many things… yada, yada, yada. But, what it really comes down to is that I LOVE what I do. I always have since the start, and I feel extremely lucky that I look forward to work each day.
I love that my clientele is so diverse; it gives me a chance to do every type of hair color and haircut. I love natural, extreme, trendy or classic. It all works for me! I specialize in all of it and even enjoy special event hair styling—when most stylists do not.
As I write this for you all to read, it’s occurred to me that my relationships with my clientele is beyond awesome. They range from professional respect, hilarious encounters and most important—long lasting friendships. I’ve watched people grow through their formative years, styled their hair for the prom, then for their wedding and have had the pleasure to see them become parents… I however have not gotten any older. It’s so fabulous to be comfortable being myself with everyone; it makes it easy for clients to be relaxed and happy in my chair as well.
Ruby is my second and final business venture—my home, rather. After great success owning a large salon with my business partner, we realized what’s important. We are a small salon. A total family unit. We all intermingle, getting to know everyone’s clients and friends. I WOULDN’T CHANGE A THING!
On a more personal note… I am a hard-working mother of two beautiful little girls named Ruby and Nova. I love them with every ounce of my being. Oh, and I’m a Libra and like long walks on the beach..
